LV and Kusama’s Eccentric Universe With Polka Dots

A decade has passed since the launch of the LV Louis Vuitton x Yayoi Kusama collection.

To celebrate the success of their first collaboration, LV, the famous French fashion house, and Yayoi Kusama, the famous Japanese contemporary artist, renews their creative collaboration with a new product line, available from January 2023.

We have already got the first taste during the Cruise 2023 show, at the Salk Institute in San Diego, California.

The LV bags designed by the artistic director, Nicolas Ghesquière, celebrate Louis Vuitton’s relationship with the artist, reinterpreting her trademark, which is nothing more than dots.

They appear either as colorful polka dots or as metal bubbles on leather bags with a black base and silver details.

Classic designs such as Petite Malle and Dauphine, as well as new additions, transform and express Kusama’s passionate and turbulent universe.

Born in March 1929, Yayoi Kusama embodies a true avant-garde artist whose talent spans many aspects of creation from sculpture and painting to photography, filmmaking, and writing.

She is known as the forerunner of Pop and Minimal art, however, her special and unique techniques have made her stand out.
Her works are inspired by the world of illusions, in which she was often lost in her childhood. He used art to escape from the nightmarish and turbulent everyday life.

Intense sparkles, dots, and floral motifs star in her works and are all elements inspired by her emotional world.
However, judging by their previous collaboration, in 2012, we can expect a series of impressive exhibitions and eccentric installations in shop windows, such as the one shown with a model of the artist herself.
