General Motors Diet is one of the most controversial diets of recent years, and it promises almost unrealistic results! It claims that you can lose up to 7 Kg in one week.
The General Motors diet started in the ‘ 80s. The homonymous group gave that diet to their employees to help them stay in good physical condition. It seems that the results were so good, that soon this diet became famous worldwide.
GMD is based on the fact that eating certain foods every day, can provide your body with fewer calories than what you burn daily. This causes a negative calorie effect in the body and helps in losing weight naturally without even having to go to the gym!

Why are nutritionists skeptical about GMD?
The calories that you get daily are about 1,000-1,200. It is so few that you will lose weight no matter what!
However, nutritionists remain wary of GMD because it helps you lose weight but not to burn fat! So when you stop dieting and return to your regular nutritional rhythms, you will get back all the lost pounds, if not more.
Additionally, nutritionists don’t agree with diets that exclude food groups. They always recommend following a balanced diet, which includes a little amount of food from all nutritional groups.
